Getting Started With Tactical Trader

Welcome Tactical Traders,

In our endeavor to create a trading service that gives busy people a chance to gain from a disciplined trading strategy while not having to devote a lot of time and energy, we designed this position trading service to accommodate the most crowded of daily schedules. With the Tactical Trader Weekly being sent out after the close on Tuesday afternoons, we afford you the opportunity to not only plan ahead to act on any new recommendations but also do any further investigation that might be warranted. We want you to be comfortable with every recommendation.

In using this service -- where our holding period can be as long as three months -- we do not recommend using sell stops unless alerted to do so. The market is very volatile and position trading blends technical analysis with fundamental analysis, which if correct will win out over any extreme price swings. The great thing about position trading is that the news hitting the underlying stock tends to come in bunches, be it good news or bad news, and we want to give a story a chance to unfold, which in this market takes only a matter of days. So we have to be flexible in our tolerance for how a trade may behave along the way to its stated objective as we go into each long or short trading strategy.

In the event some big piece of overnight news hits the tape that will cause a large gap in the price of any new recommendation, we will send out an alert before the open on Wednesday morning. We won’t leave you hanging. Though we will enter a long or short trade on Wednesday morning after alerting you on Tuesday night, we will alert you after the close on days when there is a change in our advice for the stock or option.

With each trade we will provide precise instructions, detailing each trade, while also providing for the proper language to use if you are calling in your trades to a broker. It’s all part of gaining and building the knowledge to understand the business of trading stocks and options on an intermediate-term basis. Booking profits is our first and primary goal of the Tactical Trader, however, building your trading toolbox of skills and learning the terminology is an area we will be devoting some meaningful time to, making for a good experience.

P.S. A word of caution -- this is still trading and involves a higher level of risk than longer-term investing. Not every trade will make money, that is the nature of the business and yes our positions might experience a bit of volatility when the overall market is having a down day. But what position trading affords us is a longer timeframe for the trades to work out. So if one of our trades takes a turn for the worse, please don't e-mail us asking if we still like the trade or recommend selling -- we are unable to answer such questions as SEC regulations bar us from offering personal investment advice. Unless you hear from us, we still recommend the trade and will alert all our subscribers when we suggest making an exit from a trade.
